Informatics and Data Resources
Box
Provides a secure document sharing and storage environment. Stony Brook Medicine Box accounts are available upon request.
Census Bureau
The new platform to access data and digital content from the U.S. Census Bureau. The vision for data dissemination through data.census.gov is to improve the customer experience by making data available from one centralized place so that data users spend less time searching for data content and more time using it.
COVID Data Commons
The Data Commons includes the ability to query and analyze spatial patient information while maintaining patient privacy. Access to the data held within the COVID-19 Data Commons is controlled by the Data Access Committee (DAC).
Stony Brook Medicine Data Report Request
SBM IT can create a feasibility summary, dataset, or a report of recruitable patients, within IRB and HIPAA guidelines. If possible, researchers first build their query in the TriNetX platform. For parameters not able to be queried in TriNetX, SBM IT can filter your patient cohort for you.
Daymet
Daymet provides long-term, continuous, gridded estimates of daily weather and climatology variables by interpolating and extrapolating ground-based observations through statistical modeling techniques.
OnCore
OnCore is a Clinical Trial Management System that can capture the breadth of Stony Brook's human research studies in one place - clinical, regulatory, financial, and administrative.
PRISM
Pathology imaging data and features. Researchers may request access to the platform by first submitting their project-related request to the Data Access Committee through SPARCRequest for review.
REDCap
REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture) is a versatile, secure, and mostly self-service web application that enables users to quickly build and deploy data collection projects and surveys. It is designed to be able to support a variety of data capture strategies, workflows, and compliance requirements, including HIPAA.
Registry of Research Data Repositories
The Re3data is a global registry of research data repositories from different academic disciplines, promoting a culture of sharing, increased access and better visibility of research data. It includes repositories that enable permanent storage of and access to data sets to researchers, funding bodies, publishers, and scholarly institutions.
Research Data Guide
Research data basics and best practices published by Stony Brook University Libraries.
SBU-BMI Github
The organizational github repository of BMI maintains open source software projects led by BMI faculty. Many of these projects are funded by state and national grants. A list of software is available from BMI on the github repository.
SPARCRequest
SPARCRequest SPARCRequest (Services, Pricing, & Application for Research Centers) is web-based research transaction management system that provides a central portal to researchers and their study teams to submit service requests and browse for research services
Statistical Tools and Tutorials
Resources for online statistical courses, downloading statistical software, software user tutorials, and online calculators for p-value and sample size.
TriNetX (TNX)
This research network combines Stony Brook’s Electronic Medical Record data, the data of up to 60 other Health Institutions, and claims data from insurance groups. Use TNX to query either Stony Brook’s data alone, or in combination with other data by selecting a larger data network. TNX can be used for publishable data research, study feasibility, and subject recruitment.
