Health Informatics

Our team provides researchers the guidance and services to support data-driven knowledge discovery.

Our Services

  • One-on-one Investigator Consultations. Provide project specific consultation on how to incorporate data from the Research Data Warehouse in their proposals and projects, and how to analyze and interpret results. Provide guidance to investigators on how to use electronic health data to maximize its value in their clinical and translational research projects.
  • Clinical Data Extraction and Analysis. Extract clinical data from the Research Data Warehouse; Data mapping between different formats to standardized formats - this includes mapping non-standard data elements to standardized vocabularies, e.g. RxNorm, Snomed, and mapping clinical data to data schemas, e.g., OHDSI/OMOP. Data mining on large scale clinical data for insight discovery such as disease progression. See Clinical Data Dictionary.
  • Algorithm and Software Development. Build machine learning and predictive models from clinical data for research purposes; Use open-source solutions such as PostGreSQL, R, and Python to leverage the power of your data; Advanced population and spatial analytics.
  • Image Data Extraction and Analysis. Provide extraction and analysis of Radiology imaging data and whole slide digital images. Whole slide image analyses include tumor infiltrating lymphocytes mapping, spatial analysis and analysis of multiplex fluorescent slides.
  • Studio Sessions. Structured consultation sessions targeted at junior and senior investigators. Studios serve as a mechanism for pre-review of an investigator’s proposal and for evaluation of an investigator’s project by a panel of experts with the goal of improving the chances of new proposals getting funded and ensuring a project benefits from electronic health data and allocates enough resources for their informatics needs for a successful execution.
