These Brookhaven National Laboratory facilities and techniques are available for use to researchers.
Center for Biomolecular Structure
The Center for BioMolecular Structures (CBMS) studies life at its smallest and largest scales, from the behavior of its molecular building blocks to their influence on Earth’s environment. This research environment allows visiting researchers, partners, and collaborators to succeed by combining staff expertise with a multitude of advanced research tools.
cryo-EM Laboratory
The cryo-EM Lab in the Laboratory for BioMolecular Structure (LBMS) is a state-of-the-art center for life science imaging located at BNL. The center offers access to state-of-the-art cryo-electron microscopes and laboratory equipment for studies on the building blocks of all living organisms and their behavior.
Center for Functional Nanomaterials
CFN scientists are experts in these advanced techniques, equipment, and approaches. Collaborating with BNL in-house experts is a resource available to Users for the benefit of their research; however, collaboration is not a requirement for access to the CFN facilities.
National Synchrotron Light Source II
NSLS-II creates light beams 10 billion times brighter than the sun, directing them towards specialized experimental stations called beamlines. We reveal the electronic, chemical, and atomic structure as well as function of materials using a broad spectrum of light beams, ranging from infrared to hard x-rays. Beamtime is available for users following a successful proposal review through BNL.
